The KAM Educational Grant has been established to subsidize deserving members through funding registration costs to attend workshops, classes, forums and conferences, or by purchasing books, software, etc. that pertain to cartography, geographic information systems or database design.
The grant is not intended to cover travel and accommodation expenses.
The Grant shall be monitored and administered by the KAM Executive Board. It shall be the Executive Board’s responsibility to provide all pertinent information to the KAM membership regarding the Grant, collect and screen all applications and to determine all recipients of Grant. Authority for dispersing of Grant funds shall be in the KAM Executive Board.
The administration of the KAM Educational Grant shall adhere to the following rules:
- To be eligible to receive a Grant, the applicant must be a KAM member in good standing for at least one full year prior to request.
- A KAM member may only receive one Grant in a calendar year.
- All applications shall be submitted on a prescribed form as outlined by the KAM Executive Board.
- There is no limit to how many Grants may be awarded within a calendar year, except that the aggregate of all Grants awarded within a calendar year shall not exceed $2000.
- Grants will be awarded based on need and the availability of funds. The KAM Executive Board will have final approval of the amount to be awarded.
- No member of the KAM Executive Board shall be eligible for the GRANT during a term in which they are voted into office.
