Distinguishing Features of Work Performs the following types of crime analysis: tactical, strategic, and intelligence. Performs analytical processes to provide timely and pertinent information regarding crime patterns, crime trends, and crime correlations. Collects, analyzes, presents and disseminates information regarding actual and anticipated criminal activity. The Kansas Division of Emergency Management (KDEM) is seeking a GIS Supervisor. The GIS Supervisor leads and manages KDEM's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program, providing strategic direction, staff supervision, project oversight, and stakeholder coordination in support of emergency management initiatives statewide. Serving as the agency's primary GIS subject matter expert, this position ensures geospatial programs, technologies, and services align with organizational goals and applicable state and federal standards. This role oversees GIS operations, data management, mapping products, applications, and training while providing technical leadership to internal and external partners. The GIS Supervisor also plays a critical role in emergency response operations by delivering timely and accurate geospatial information to support preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts across Kansas through the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC).
