Morning session: This workshop is designed to introduce participants to two of the most popular open source (free) graphic design softwares for vector and raster files, Inkscape and GIMP. With the novice in mind, this course will highlight how Inkscape and GIMP can be used to increase mapping efficiency and expand cartographic and design possibilities. The first part of the course will be an overview of features, followed by potential applications/examples, and conclude with several hands-on projects/examples. Both Inkscape and GIMP can be simple programs to learn and used in conjunction with or in lieu of, ArcGIS for mapping projects. Afternoon session: |
