The KAM board meeting minutes from May 29, 2019 and the May 2019 and June 2019 Treasurer reports are all posted on the website now. You must be logged in to view them under the Governance menu.
Do you believe that the annual KAM conference is only a few months away? As you know, the conference is when we get to recognize those people who do amazing things in GIS and KAM on a daily basis. The conference is also when we decide who our leadership will be for the following year. We need your help to identify those people! Nominations are open for awards and also for KAM board members. Please take a minute and nominate someone – links are below. Please remember – the deadline for nominations is August 1, 2019.
For conference rates and registration visit the General information page at https://www.kansasmappers.org/confgeninfo. Early bird registration ends September 13, 2019.
Pre-conference workshop registration is open as well. You must register for these classes separately from the general conference registration (a change from previous years). Check out our pre-conference workshop offerings and register at https://www.kansasmappers.org/preconference. Some classes have caps, so don’t delay in registering for these great hands-on learning opportunities!
Do you have a map for that? Or maybe an app?
Map Gallery submissions are now open for the 2019 KAM Conference! The Map Gallery is a great opportunity to showcase your unique or challenging mapping or web app creations. Check out the Map Gallery Guidelines and submit your Map or Web App here.
All submissions received by October 1, 2019 will be entered into a drawing for a gift card!
Our heartiest congratulations goes out to Abbey Marcotte, a graduate student at Kansas State University, for being selected to receive the 2019 John Cowan Memorial Scholarship! Abbey's master's project focuses on quantifying past and present mechanisms of how bedrock rivers erode laterally into channel banks. We look forward to hearing more about her research, either in an upcoming issue of Metes and Bounds or at KAM 2019 this fall. Congratulations, Abbey!
The GIS team at the Kansas Department of Emergency Management has created an Operations Dashboard to monitor flood conditions throughout our state. Kudos to KAM members Mike D'Attilio and Luke Finley, KDEM, for putting together such a valuable resource!
