    Riley County has scheduled an Intermediate ArcPro training with Ken Wilkerson, GIS Edge for March 27, 28, 29. It will be held at the Riley County Office Building, 2nd Floor Conference Room, 110 Courthouse Plaza, Manhattan from 8:30 - 5. The class is limited to 10 students at a cost of $850/student. We have a limited number of vacancies left to fill the class.     The Kansas Association of Mappers (KAM) is now accepting applications online for the John Cowan Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship provides financial assistance to students within the State of Kansas pursuing a professional career in the field of Geography attained through a geographic-focused education.

    The successful applicant must:

    1. Be enrolled as an undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, or graduate student in a post-secondary educational institution within the State of Kansas.
    2. Be enrolled in coursework that is necessary to begin a career in a Geography-based profession.
    3. Be able to show the intent to make Geography or a Geography-related career the major focus of your higher education.

    A maximum scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded once proof of enrollment has been received by the Treasurer of KAM.

    K. John Cowan, one of KAM’s most respected members, passed away in February 2010 after a battle with cancer. John was passionate and outgoing about the importance of geographic knowledge, and this scholarship seeks to symbolically carry on John’s passion by providing financial assistance to those with a desire for a higher education in geography.

    This class will examine the uses of local data within ArcGIS Online.

    Attendees will learn:

    • What ArcGIS Online is
    • How to add their local data
    • How to create a map that is useful for information and analysis
    • What credits are
    • What pop-ups are and how to customize them
    • How to use and visualize data in  CSV file format (ex. Orion Queries)
    • What functionality is available in ArcGIS Online vs. ArcGIS Desktop
    • How ArcGIS online is organized
    • How to create an application from a map and share it (Internally and Externally)

    Audience for this class could include: GIS Personnel new to ArcGIS Online, Appraisers, any other local staff looking to begin utilizing ArcGIS Online for their mapping and analysis needs as well as seasoned users looking for new ideas.

    Cost: KAM Members $80, Non-Members $150
