State of Kansas Agencies

Kansas Department of Agriculture – Division of Water Resources

The Division of Water Resources administers 30 laws and responsibilities including the Kansas Water Appropriation Act which governs how water is allocated and used; statutes regulating the construction of dams, levees and other changes to streams; the state's four interstate river compacts; as well as coordinating the national flood insurance program in Kansas.

Kansas Water Office

The Kansas Water Office (KWO) was established in 1981 as the water planning, policy, coordination and marketing agency for the state.

The primary statutory function of the agency is the development and implementation of the Kansas Water Plan. KWO, in coordination with the Kansas Water Authority, also reviews all water laws and makes recommendations to the Governor and Legislature for needed legislation to ensure water policies and programs address the needs of all Kansans.

EagleView Technologies

EagleView (formerly Pictometry) is an industry-leading technology company that produces high-resolution aerial imagery and derived data solutions. The imagery is captured with patented camera systems attached to fixed-wing aircraft resulting in more detail than satellite imagery and greater coverage than drone imagery. EagleView provides both orthogonal (top-down, 90-degree angle) and oblique (bird’s eye, 40–50-degree angle) imagery, providing multiple views of a location, including the ability to rotate 360 degrees around buildings and structures. The imagery is imbued with data and insights, meaning everything visible in the imagery can be analyzed, measured, and used to inform decisions. When imagery is captured over time with regularly scheduled flights, an imagery library can be developed to help GIS professionals and their government stakeholders compare current and historical imagery to track change throughout their jurisdictions. EagleView imagery integrates directly into your preferred GIS software, allowing users to overlay new or existing data layers on both ortho and oblique imagery for important context.
