Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit posters on the geospatial topic of their choice, as long as it is related in some manner to the state of Kansas. The posters will be displayed in the conference Map Gallery on the morning of Thursday, October 30, 2025.
Student project posters will be evaluated for the top undergraduate, graduate, and people's choice awards. Three cash awards will be given - top graduate ($100), top undergraduate ($100), and people's choice ($50). The first two awards will be based on scoring from a panel of judges, and the people's choice will come from a popular vote of conference attendees.
This contest is separate from the annual Map Gallery awards given to conference attendees. We will, however, display all posters, maps, and apps in the same area and indicate which ones are in which contest.
Announcement of the award winners will be made during lunch on Thursday, October 30, at the conference.
Students must register for the conference at the student rate of $30 for a Single Day or $50 the full conference.
Student Poster Guidelines For the best graduate and undergraduate posters, three judges will score the posters in four categories: data communication, cartographic design, creativity, and oral presentation. Original research is welcome, but not required. The scorecard our judges will use is posted as a PDF below.
